Purposeful Parenting

Being a parent is not about luck. Loving out kids means more than just a roll of the dice. Parenting means being proactive and purposeful. But how? “Purposeful Parenting” addresses the how and gives you tools to truly shape our children into adults we can be proud of.  This Family Life Seminar will be taught by Dr. Dave Rueter, Asst. Professor of Christian Education at Concordia University, Irivne and Youth & Family Ministry Facilitator for the Pacific Southwest District.

To bring this Family Life Seminar or design another on a topic of need in your congregation contact Dave Rueter at david.rueter@psd-lcms.org.

Communication Breakdown

Entering the teenage years brings with it tons of changes.  We grow and change in some many profound ways, that it is no wonder that the connection that was once strong between parents and children is stretched to the breaking point.  Teenagers seem so alien to parents who remember the “good old days” of early childhood.  Parents no longer seem to have as much wisdom to offer their teens as they did just a few years ago.  From both the perspective of parents and teenagers, this is a difficult time to maintain healthy communication and a loving connection to one another.  “Communication Breakdown” examines how teens can better understand their parents and parents better understand their teens in order to keep the family bonds healthy into adulthood.
