October 2011
Dear Pastors, DCEs, and Congregational Leaders,
Earlier this year the district staff position of Youth & Family Ministry Facilitator was filled. In partnership with Concordia University, Dr. Dave Rueter has been serving to fulfill the Pacific Southwest District’s mission to “effectively resource congregations and schools to fulfill the Great Commission”. Since the beginning of this new position great strides have been taken to help better resource the DCE’s and congregations of our district. A few highlights of this ministry include:
• Improved communication with district congregations through a monthly eNewsletter.
• Support for congregations in staffing transition and calling DCE’s.
• Counseling, resourcing, and equipping for many DCE’s and other church leaders.
• Re-establishment of youth leadership training through Lutheran Youth Fellowship.
• The development of relationships with various ethnic ministries.
• Support the leadership for DCE’s Etc., Youth Gatherings, and the District Youth Committee.
In order to support this vital partnership between the district and congregations, we are asking congregations to consider making a 2011-2012 partnership contribution. Your contribution of $45 will help to support this position ($30) and also provide some funding for the training and professional growth ($15) of our regional DCE gatherings (DCEs Etc. in Southern California and AMORE in Arizona). DCE’s and others whose congregations make a partnership donation for 2011-2012 will receive a special rate on their registration for the 2012 PSD DCE Conference in January

Our sincere thanks and appreciation to you for your ongoing support. May the Lord bless and keep you in His care!
